e já que temos falado dele nos últimos posts: lico está nos estados unidos e sou eu quem está fazendo intercâmbio. como sou a melhor da família no inglês, desde que ele partiu, em setembro do ano passado, tenho trocado emails regularmente com a sharon, que é a mãe americana dele - uma mulher incrível e admirável que, junto à eleição de obama, me fez acreditar que existe vida inteligente na américa.

a propósito, transcrevo o email que acabo de receber:

"Hi Candice,
Our Sunday at Marty's mom's was nice. She made swiss steak and mashed potatoes. She made Kalil's favorite banana creme pie for desert.
Tomorrow we will be up to almost 60 degrees and sunshine! Spring!
If you travel to the USA you MUST come to Michigan! It would be great! Forget New York, Just a big dirty city...lol. Just kidding, I'm sure it's nice. I just want you to come here...lol.
Tonight we went with Kalil to the school. He was honored for being chosen for the "circle of excellence". Here is what his math teacher said about him: "It is my pleasure to nominate Kalil for the Circle of Excellence. Kalil, who is a foreign exchange student, has been a stand-out performer in our Physics class. He is always at the top of the class on homework and tests. Kalil is very creative in his solutions to problems. Other students look to him for help when they are frustrated with a problem, and he is more than happy to assist them. Kalil is also good at asking appropriate and thought-provoking questions in class discussions. His presence makes the class better for all of us, and we are very pleased to have him at Lakewood."
It is quite an honor for him. His parents would be very proud of him. We, as host parents were.
